I've been thinking a lot about marriage. this February, I will have been happily married for 3 years to an amazing woman. She is Godly, beautiful, intelligent, funny caring, loving, unselfish, kind, considerate, dedicated... Well, I can go on and on about my wife Sarah because she is just that amazing. i am truly blessed to have her in my life. It is an honor to do life and ministry with her; one that i truly don't deserve. I guess that's yet another example of God's grace in my life.
Just a few days ago, my parents celebrated their thirty-sixth wedding anniversary. #6 years! Wow! Now that is something you don't see very much these days. I look at my parents and admire their dedication and love they share. I can't wait to get to that place with Sarah.
Most recently, Sarah and I found out that some friends are getting married. They will be married this spring, in what I am sure will be a beautiful ceremony. This summer, some other friends will be getting married in Brazil. All of this anniversary/wedding talk got me thinking about my son Jude.
Jude may only be a baby, but I wonder what his wife is going to be like. Like any good father, i want only the best for my son. I pray everyday for him and for the one that God is preparing for him. I started listing out all the things I would want her to be for him. In the middle of all that thinking, I heard God say to me, "The things you want in a bride for your son, are the very things i am looking for in my Son's bride." Let that settle into your spirit for a moment. God is looking for a bride for His Son. And no ordinary bride will do. The church is described as the bride of Christ, so what type of bride are we?
