The Bride: She's a helpmate

I pray that the bride that God has for my son is a helpmate to him. I pray that she is someone who will be there to help him fulfill all that God has for him, that she help encourage and build him up. God the Father is looking for His Son’s bride to be his helpmate.

When God created Adam He said, “It is not good for man to be alone.” At this point, every man in history has shouted “AMEN”! God then creates Eve out of man rib and presents her as a suitable helpmate for him. A helpmate is someone who aids or assists. God intended for man to have help in his responsibilities, duties and ministry. As the bride of Christ we are to help fulfill His purpose. As his bride we are to advance his cause.

In my life and ministry, I owe a lot to my wife Sarah. She has been a great helpmate. Were it not for her, I really would be a mess. I know my flaws and weaknesses. Organization, for example, is definitely not one of my strengths. Sarah, on the other hand is very organized. She helps me to stay focused and on task. I tend to be a big picture kind of person. I often don’t really understand of see all the details that make up the picture. Sarah not only sees and appreciates the big picture, but she sees every detail that goes into that picture.

Last fall, our youth group hosted a big event called Fusion Fest. My goal for this event was for it to be a youth conference and see young people activated and empowered to walk in the destiny that God has for them. I envisioned to big event with hundreds of young people, bands playing, a great message, food and games. I am sure if it were left to me, Fusion Fest would not have been what it was. Sarah saw every detail that went into the planning and execution of that night. She designed flyers, posters, and promotional videos. She made sure that every decoration had a purpose. She really helped me to bring the whole thing together. Now, I don’t want to neglect all the people who also helped her, because she too had a lot of help. My point is that without her coming along side of me to help me, I would have missed a lot of things.

As the bride of Christ, we need to be doing everything we can to advance His cause. We are to be helping in advancing His Kingdom, do everything we can to see Heaven brought to earth. A friend once told me, “Our destiny is to go to heaven; our assignment is to bring heaven here.” Unfortunately, we as the bride of Christ, do to more to hinder the advancement of His cause than we do to help it. Many times, we are more concerned with our own cause. When the bride of Christ comes to an understanding of our purpose and His cause and comes alongside to help Christ, then we become that helpmate He is looking for. This in no way is meant to be critical of the church. But it is meant to remind us of all that God intends for His Son’s bride to be. As the church we must get a revelation of who the bride is in our spirit, so that we may live it out daily. The Father is looking for His Son’s bride to be his helpmate.
