The Approach

The other day, Jude walks over to me and says, "I wuv you daddy!" It touched my heart so much because it was totally unsolicited. No sooner he said that he jumped in my lap and began to hug and kiss me. It made me laugh and the more I laughed the more he would kiss me. Jude then says, "Daddy let's pway together." So, I got down on the floor and played with him. It didn't really matter what he wanted to play as long as he wanted to be with me I was willing to do it. Anything he asked me, I gave him because he was enjoying being with me and I was happy to move in his favor.
In that moment I heard the Lord speak to me. He said to me, "The same way you will do whatever your son asks in this moment, I will do for my children when they approach me in the same manner."
Often times, we only approach God when we need something. It is selfish and self seeking. When we approach God because we truly want to be in His presence and lavish our love upon Him, we can then ask Him for anything and He will give it to us. God is a good father. He wants to please His children. It's all about the approach.
How are you approaching your Father?
